Oùcécap’s take
As the crow flies, Amsterdam is just 358 km from London, east, at 73°. From New York, a flat map misleads you: it says 78°, east; the compass says 49°, north-east. To place it, remember that it shares the latitude of Berlin and Warsaw, and that Brussels is 173 km to the south.
