How to play Oùcécap

Everything you need to aim true: the two modes, stopovers, the logbook, origins and how points work.

The idea

A destination appears: a capital, a landmark… You aim your phone where you think it is and lock it in. Oùcécap compares your bearing with the real direction, as the crow flies from where you stand. The gap, in degrees, makes the score.

Crew: the party game

2 to 6 sailors share one phone. Each round a destination appears and the phone goes from hand to hand. Once everyone has aimed, Oùcécap reveals the direction and ranks the crew. Relaxed: take your time. Timed: every aim is against the clock. No account needed.

Solo: from stopover to stopover

You against your friends and the rest of the world. Each stopover brings new destinations to find, with 20 seconds to aim. Destinations you find go into your logbook and lift you up the leaderboards, among friends and worldwide.

The logbook and origins

A destination found in Solo goes into your logbook. You can aim at it again from somewhere else: every new place, more than 25 km from the previous ones, counts as a new origin.

Precision medals

Gold if your gap is 2° or less, Silver up to 10°, Bronze up to 30°. Beyond 30°, in Solo, the destination is not found.

Points

The smaller your gap, the more you score: a perfect bearing earns 1,000 pts, and points drop fast as the gap grows.

Maps

It all starts with the world’s capitals. Other maps unlock in the app. Some, like Réunion, can only be played from the place they describe.
