Oùcécap’s take
Due west of London: that is where Santo Domingo lies, at 266° on the compass, 7,019 km away. A flat map, however, would place it south-west, at 239°. From New York it is south, at 170°, 2,504 km away. Two landmarks: its neighbour Port-au-Prince is due west, 257 km away, and Santiago, the Chilean capital, is due south, almost on the same meridian.
