Oùcécap’s take
West, yes, but which west? From London, a flat map puts Havana at 246°, south-west; the compass puts it at 279°, just north of west, for 7,491 km. From New York the direction feels more natural: 204°, south-west, 2,105 km away. To place Cuba’s capital, remember it shares its latitude with Muscat, and that Kingston lies 818 km to the south-east.
