Phnom Penh
Cambodia
Phnom Penh is the capital and most populous city of Cambodia. It has been the national capital since 1865 and has grown to become the nation's primate city and its political, economic, industrial, and cultural centre. The city's name derives from Wat Phnom, a Buddhist temple, and Lady Penh, the city's founder. It sits at the confluence of the Tonlé Sap and Mekong rivers, and is the start of the Bassac River.

Bearings as the crow flies (great circle), measured from north. From somewhere else, the bearing changes: that’s the whole game.
Oùcécap’s take
From New York, Phnom Penh is due north, at 1°, whereas a flat map would say 100°, east: the shortest route passes very close to the North Pole. From London, the map misleads too: 115°, south-east, against 71°, east, on the compass. And if you went straight through the Earth from Phnom Penh, you would come out 221 km from Lima.
