Oùcécap’s take
Flat map and compass disagree by 37° between London and Dhaka: the map would aim at 112°, south of east, the compass at 74°, north of east, for 8,002 km. From New York it is even more striking: the compass says 16°, north, because the shortest route flies over Greenland, the Arctic and Siberia, whereas the map would say 97°. To place Bangladesh’s capital, remember it lies on the same latitude as Havana.
