Oùcécap’s take
Rome sits almost on New York’s latitude, so from there a flat map points due east, at 89°. The compass says 57°, north-east, because the shortest route arcs up over the Atlantic before crossing France. From London it is straightforward: 133°, south-east, 1,433 km away. A landmark: Tbilisi and Skopje share Rome’s latitude.
