Oùcécap’s take
From Cairo, Kyiv is due north, at 359°, and it sits almost on London’s latitude. From London, aim east, at 81°, for 2,133 km. From New York, a flat map would say 82°, east, but the compass reads 42°, north-east: the shortest route passes north of Scotland and over Denmark. To place Ukraine’s capital, remember Chișinău is 400 km to the south.
