Oùcécap’s take
Warsaw lies on London’s latitude, yet from London you do not aim due east: the compass says 78°, 1,447 km away. From New York the gap is wider: a flat map says 80°, east, the compass 44°, north-east. A landmark: Skopje is due south of Warsaw, almost on the same meridian, and Amsterdam and Berlin share its latitude.
