Oùcécap’s take
Khartoum spreads out where the Blue Nile meets the White Nile, due south of Ankara: 181° on the compass, 2,707 km away. From London, aim south-east, at 132°, for 4,932 km; from New York, a flat map would say 105°, east, but the compass reads 67°, north-east. Asmara, for its part, is 687 km due east.
