Oùcécap’s take
Just south of the equator, Quito lies west of London, at 261°, 9,225 km away, whereas a flat map would say 232°, south-west; the shortest route crosses the Caribbean Sea and then Colombia. From Washington, it is due south. And Singapore is only 288 km from Quito’s antipode.
