Islamabad is the capital city of Pakistan. It is the country's tenth-most populous city with a population of over 1.1 million and is federally administered by the Pakistani government as part of the Islamabad Capital Territory — with a metropolitan population of over 2.3 million. Built as a planned city along the Margalla Hills in the 1960s and established in 1967, Islamabad replaced Karachi as Pakistan's national capital.

Oùcécap’s take
Rabat, Beirut, Baghdad: three capitals on Islamabad’s latitude, each within half a degree. From London, a flat map would aim at 108°, south of east; the compass says 79°, north of east, for 6,041 km. From New York, the gap reaches 66°: 27°, north-east, over Greenland and Russia, against 93° on the map. To place Pakistan’s capital, remember it lies 378 km east of Kabul.
