Bangui
Central African Republic
Bangui is the capital and largest city of the Central African Republic. It was established as a French outpost in 1889 and named after its location on the northern bank of the Ubangi River; the Ubangi itself was named from the Bobangi word for the "rapids" located beside the settlement, which marked the end of navigable water north from Brazzaville.

Oùcécap’s take
Stockholm, Budapest, Sarajevo and Bangui share the same meridian: from any of those three cities, you would simply aim due south. From London, aim south-east, at 155°, 5,521 km away. From New York, a flat map says 114°, south-east; the compass says 85°, due east. One last landmark: Bangui shares Bogotá’s latitude.
