Oùcécap’s take
Look due north from Montreal or New York and you are aiming at Ulaanbaatar: the shortest route passes almost over the North Pole, then drops down across Siberia. A flat map would send you due west instead. From London, aim north-east, at 46°, 6,972 km away, not east as the map suggests (93°). A landmark: the Mongolian capital lies on the same latitude as Vienna.
