Oùcécap’s take
After Reykjavík, Helsinki is the world’s northernmost national capital. From London, aim north-east, at 48°, for 1,821 km. From New York, a flat map would have you aim east, at 73°; the compass says 35°, north-east, because the shortest route passes south of Greenland and then over southern Iceland. Tallinn, its neighbour, is only 83 km to the south.
